OK, perhaps I'm exaggerating, but I just checked my "secret" PDA memo file and figured out that I (try to) maintain at least 75 passwords between work, school, and my personal life. This is incredible and I can't believe that the only ways that have been created to getting around this are to save passwords on Internet Explorer, buy software that maintains passwords but requires a password, or fingerprint recognition, which is stil in its infancy.
And the ironic thing is that if you forget your password, most of the time all you have to do is have them send it to your email address where you can find it in an email. If that's all it takes, then why not have almost all websites have your email account being logged in as the only thing needed to access their account? Now, for highly sensitive stuff like banking or health records, you might want to add another layer of security, but the way things are going, my brain is going to explode.
The biggest issue with password maintenance is that they have differing expiration time intervals and different rules for passwords that are created. This is marketing being held hostage by IT security. I really don't think anybody is going to invade my del.icio.us/uh2l account and sabotage it. So maybe I don't need a password for it, just my email address should suffice. Even if somebody does mess with it, perhaps by me emailing them and providing some security information, they could restore it to a prior state.
