Zack at Detroit Wonk noted that iTunes now has a Detroit playlist containing songs by artists from Detroit. But iTunes had one glarring error. From Zack's words:
UPDATE 11:43PM I did not notice this until Ray pointed it out to me, but the Detroit iTunes Essentials graphic has misspelled "Detroit" as "Detriot," emphasis on "riot." I urge you all to email iTunes here, and ask them for an explanation - or, lacking that, merely ask "What the hell?" Of all the categories for request, perhaps "Augment a Genre" fits best - though if "Point out a gross oversight" were a category, that would be most fitting.
Misspelling? Or something else?? I did send feedback to iTunes. Regardless of what happened, it needs to be fixed. Check out Detroit Wonk for the entire article and many great comments.

I would expect nothing less from iTunes.
Interesting side note about iTunes - in Apple's early days they promsied Apple Records (of Beatles fame) that they would never get into the music business.

It's gotta be an ignorant typo. If intentional, I'd expect "DetRIOT" to emphasize the play on spelling. I guess dealing with this type of publicity is what it must have felt like to be in Cleveland through the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

I wonder how long it'll take for them to fix it. I checked it out this morning and it's still Detriot.
