I'm sure we all have friends who wish to "get out" of Detroit and move to some other "great" city, and one of the cities frequently mentioned is New York City. Well, I know I would never want to live there. If you agree, and anybody asks why, just give them this...
Top 10 Reasons why Detroit is better than New York City
10. Pesky tourists don't get in the way of us trying to have a good time.
9. The roads may be crappy, but we don't have to pay $20 in tolls to get around town
8. Not having hundreds of restaurants makes it easier to decide where to eat
7. Fewer weird people.
6. A night at the bar in Detroit costs the same as a drink at a bar in NYC.
5. When our public transportation workers strike, it's just life as usual for most of us.
4. We have attitude, but not an attitude problem.
3. You regularly get to drive your car over 45 mph here.
2. When global warming gets really bad, we won't be under water.
1. We have many Coney Islands to choose from and they only have one.

If you like the city, but don't want to deal with the crap that exists wherever there are millions, Detroit is the place for you!

To be honest, I don't think we have less weird people in Detroit at all. And having weird people isn't such a bad thing. What I like about people in Detroit is that they take in interest in you, whereas in NYC everyone is in their own world...

Have you been on the subway in New York? :-) Clearly, many many weird people, more than I typically see in Detroit in any public place.

There are a lot more weird people in NYC. Even the percentage of people who are weird has to be higher.

That's a bunch of things people hear others say in NYC. Last time I checked, there wasn't a whole site devoted to quotes of crazy people in Detroit.
