It's easy to forget that Detroit has an art collection that is "one of the largest, most significant in the United States". Founded in 1885on Jefferson Rd., but then moved to its current location in 1927, the musuem has recently received a $15 million gift by the Josephine Ford Estate. It has art from many cultures of the world and temporary exhibits. Currently, there is a "Super Bowl" exhibit which showcases bowls from all over the world, (sorry no footballs). Keep in mind that the fourth Friday of each month is Family Friday, and they have art workshops so you can create some art yourself.
Take a trip to the DIA soon. As they say on the commercials, "You goin'?" I will be soon.
