Now that I am back in the states I wanted to take a moment to give a shout out to my friends at The Real Retro - a fantastic Ann Arbor based tee-shirt company that creates retro sport style tee-shirts for historical and literary figures.
They keep expanding their offerings though there is yet to be a Detroit based one. Maybe we can convince them? If you had to pick a famous historical or literary figure connected with Detroit to be on a tee-shirt, who would it be? Please, send me your suggestions and I'll pass them on.

My suggestions are...
Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac - French officer who founded Detroit
Henry Ford
Rudolph Diesel - German, but had an impact on the heavy duty vehicle industry here
Alfred P. Sloan - Former president of GM and marketing guru
Preston Tucker - started his own car company to design an ultimate car

How about the Purple Gang? Here's a story about them with a great retro picture: http://info.detnews.com/history/story/index.cfm?id=183&category=life
