As I have been writing this blog for more than two months, I have realized that many of the things I notice and talk about are similar to topics that Andy Rooney discusses in his weekly segment on the CBS television show "60 Minutes". (By the way, mine is the only blog with the Technorati blog tag of "Andy Rooney".) I've admired his combination of candor, humor, and intelligence since I was an eighth grader. And I am envious of him for having a job as fun as just talking about random topics. My affinity for writing developed only eight years ago but I have similar high aspirations.
Now, this may be a stretch, and I know I don't look like him in any way, nor do I share any part of my upbringing with him, but when he retires, do you think I could interview with CBS to become the next Andy Rooney? I wrote to CBS a little while back and asked him to check out my blog because I thought he would enjoy it, but I doubt his eyes ever got to read my actual email. I'm sure one of his assistants conveniently dragged and dropped it to the trash bin. If I keep this blog up long enough, I'll have quite a bit of writing under my belt, (some of it actually good). Now I know I look better than Andy Rooney, (compare pictures), so maybe I have a shot? Well, nobody can stop me from dreaming, not even "the man".

You're way cuter than Andy Rooney. (I've never watched him, so I can only compare pictures, not talent.) If you're really interested, maybe you should get a street address for him and send a letter there.
My blog is the only one tagged "Demond Wilson."

Hey, if Katie Couric can anchor the CBS Evening News, anything is possible... go for it!

Thanks for the vote of confidence and the compliment Stephen and Sereena. Perhaps I should buy the URL "www.thenextandyrooney.com" and I'll get some press out of it. Then one day Andy will agree to meet with me. Writing a real letter is probably the best idea. I know he reads paper letters and talks about them in his segments.
